FINE ART REGISTRY™ ANNOUNCES FAR® WEBVIDEO™

(Phoenix, AZ. — Februaru 21, 2007)   Global Fine Art Registry, LLC., the first online permanent online registry and marketplace for fine art and collectibles, has just announced a new innovative feature to their web site (www.fineartregistry.com). Fine Art Registry™ (FAR®) has just introduced FAR®WebVideo™, streaming and downloadable videos that go behind the scenes with some of today’s leading artists and also deliver marketing know-how and tips to artists and other information of interest to artists, collectors and those involved in the art industry in general. This new addition to the FAR web site is just one of the many features that make the site a leader in providing up-to-the-minute news and in depth information on the art industry. The first FAR WebVideo production titled “Frankie Brown, Taking up Where Jackson Pollock Left Off,” is a profile of artist Frankie Brown, a master of splatter-dash paintings. Brown is in the midst of the controversy surrounding the true origins of a painting that was purchased by Teri Horton for $5.00 at a thrift store, which she now claims to be an original Jackson Pollock. FAR has been following this story closely, including retaining a fingerprint expert to examine the forensic evidence advanced to support this claim which has been rejected by the art community.

In addition to FAR WebVideo, the site also offers up-to-the-minute articles on industry happenings, tips on marketing and selling artwork, tips for protecting art as well as profiles of some of today’s leading artists and their works. FAR has a unique, patented system for identifying and making a permanent record of fine art and collectibles which is designed to detect and prevent theft and forgery and establish accurate provenance. The site includes a current schedule of upcoming events and an opportunity to sign up for FAR News & Reports, the Fine Art Registry newsletter. “The FAR Web site is poised to be a leader in providing important industry information to both artists and collectors,” said Theresa Franks, Founder and CEO of Fine Art Registry. “FAR is more than just a site to register and protect art pieces; we are a resource for artists who want to utilize our site to create a gallery and sell their art as well as for collectors looking for pieces from a particular artist. Fine Art Registry also offers a solution to insurance companies who can utilize the FAR site to verify claims. “Often the loss of a collectible meant ‘my word against yours.’ With FAR, owners who have registered their pieces have an established record of ownership. We also provide an online location to report lost or stolen art which is invaluable to law enforcement agencies and to buyers who want to make sure that what they’re buying is not stolen property,” said Franks.

Artists benefit from FAR not only because they can list pieces for sale in their online gallery (free with membership), but also have marketing tools such as certificates of authenticity they can download and print, upload copyright registration and other documents which are stored with their work. In addition, for each a piece that is bought or sold, a secure, electronic transfer of ownership takes place and an image of the piece moves to the new owner’s online gallery so that a permanent record of provenance is established for each precious artwork or collectible.

The FAR process is simple:
  • Tags are purchased online from FAR; each one has a unique number, similar to a vehicle’s VIN number.
  • The tag is placed in an inconspicuous place on the piece, which is then photographed and logged into the FAR database along with the tag number and a detailed description of the item. The photos are also uploaded. They become part of the artist’s or collector’s online gallery.
  • The artist can add a bio, a photo of himself and any other information he wants visitors to see when they go to his gallery. He can offer pieces for sale and also show which pieces have been sold.
  • When an item is sold or otherwise changes hands, the artist and new owner carry out an online transfer of ownership of the piece.

“We continually strive to develop more and more innovations that will keep our site at the forefront of the art industry,” said Franks.
