NEW HIGHEST QUALITY MASTERPIECE® ELITE™ CANVASES ARE SHIPPING WITH
FINE ART REGISTRY™ TAGS READY FOR ARTISTS TO REGISTER AS THEY COMPLETE EACH PIECE, TO ENSURE THE HIGHEST QUALITY CANVAS WITH PROVENANCE AND AUTHENTICITY BUILT IN

(San Francisco, CA and Phoenix, AZ. — August 1, 2007)   Masterpiece Artist Canvas is pleased to announce the introduction of the Masterpiece Elite™ Canvas which is sold with a Fine Art Registry (FAR®) tag from Global Fine Art Registry, LLC already affixed to the back.

"We took all our knowledge and experience in stretching canvas, and built the finest stretched canvas we could imagine," says John Sooklaris, President of Masterpiece Artist Canvas, Inc. The construction and materials used, vastly prolong the longevity of the art, contribute to increased luminescence, and enhance the creative experience. This is the canvas for professional artists and artists whose work deserves the finest possible surface.

The Elite is stretched with the finest Belgian linen that is hand primed with the best oil or acrylic primers. The sturdy frame is 2.25" wide and made of select kiln dried wood that is always in solid lengths, never finger jointed. Every size over 24" is custom braced with extra wide 3.25" bracing. All frames are keyable and restretchable. Each canvas is numbered and pre-registered with the Fine Art Registry and comes with a high tech tag with six levels of built in security. This feature protects the artist’s painting and creates immediate provenance.

Galleries are starting to request that artists use quality linen as their surface. The materials have a much longer life than cotton and the classic texture is often visible to the buyer's eye. Artists also say that oil primed linen allows the light to bounce off the tightly woven primed fabric – creating that glowing look associated with the old masters.

The artist buying the top quality Masterpiece Elite canvases are given instructions on how to register the painting with Fine Art Registry once it is complete. Following the simple steps to register the painting will enable the artist to create a permanent record online in the FAR database linked to the unique, tamper evident, unforgeable tag on the back of the Masterpiece canvas. This puts the Masterpiece Elite canvas in a bracket all of its own since no other company is offering anything similar.

Artists purchasing Masterpiece Elite canvases will finish a piece and then log on to www.fineartregistry.com to activate the tag on their canvas. They then upload photos and details about the piece and begin their online portfolio which will, in time, become their own, electronic catalogue raisonné (without the guesswork and controversy which has surrounded print catalogues, created by people other than the artist, in the past).

Masterpiece has for years been producing the finest pre-stretched, numbered canvases, used by artists worldwide as their favorite ground on which to create their masterpieces. The idea of adding to the authenticity and provenance of the piece by providing a serial number for each canvas has now been greatly expanded by incorporating the FAR tag on the back of each, giving them a truly unique position at the top of the art canvas industry.

"Registering the Elite canvas with the Fine Art Registry adds intrinsic value to the work," says Donna Wilson, Vice President of Marketing for Masterpiece. "The canvas and the work can be tracked from artist to gallery to buyers, to museums – by simple on-line transfer. Whether the artwork is a gift or part of a gallery collection, the Fine Art Registry tag and registration creates added value that is thoroughly explained in a DVD enclosed with each of the Elite canvases. We are so enthusiastic about offering this service to our customers that we will soon be enclosing Fine Art Registry information with all of our canvases."

"We are delighted to have found a partner who sees the importance of establishing provenance and authenticity right from the point of creation of each new work of art," says Theresa Franks, CEO of Fine Art Registry. "We feel this is a perfect match and will go a long way to help straighten out authenticity and bring order to the world of contemporary art."

ABOUT MASTERPIECE CANVAS:
Tony Sooklaris started Masterpiece in his garage selling custom stretched canvas to artists and galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area. Surrounded by artists in his family, Tony used their feedback and inspiration to build the canvases that suited their needs as well as those of his customers.

Tony's son, John, spent most of his childhood summers stretching canvas. John studied art and artist materials at U.C. Berkeley. After graduation, John came to work in the family business and assumed the presidency in 1982.

Recognized in the U.S. as an innovator of quality, handmade canvas, Masterpiece Artist Canvas has developed the widest assortment of styles and sizes in the industry. Masterpiece is located in San Francisco with expansion to Mexico and San Diego in progress.

Full information on FAR® and how the system of tagging and registering art functions is available at www.FineArtRegistry.com.
